With the 20th anniversary just over one month away, Ultra Music Festival has released the second episode of ‘#20yearsofultra’, examining dance music culture in the early 2000’s alongside the growing pains and challenges associated with rapid expansion. The episode is the latest in the documentary series, and features interviews with DJs who were starting their careers at the time, such as Tiesto, and Ferry Corsten.

Characterized by minimal production and massive crowds, 2003 and 2004 are highlighted as significant turning points for electronic music, and festival culture in America. Where other cities struggled to legally hold large electronic gatherings, Miami became a hotbed for hosting world class talent. The incorporation of both DJs and live bands, like Rabbit In The Moon, Underworld, and Junkie XL created a truly unique atmosphere, one which is still maintained to this day.

Having grown to become one of dance music’s true juggernaut events, Ultra’s tickets for the 20th anniversary celebrations in 2018 are over 97% sold out. In order to guarantee entrance to this monumental occasion, fans are encouraged to purchase tickets now with this year’s Ultra slogan serving as ‘Expect the Unexpected’; a tagline that has led to swirl rumours of a possible Swedish House Mafia reunion, the return of Daft Punk, or maybe even the comeback of Avicii.

In order to find out what Ultra have up their sleeves, you’ll have to be in Miami between 23rd March and 26th March 2018.
