With Ultra‘s marquee event less than 48 hours away, all eyes are on Miami. Despite this, the franchise still has other things on their plate at the moment. According to a press conference held in the Florida city on Wednesday, the mega-festival has acquired Miami’s Winter Music Conference (WMC), and will also expand its reach to include China in its worldwide festival expansion plans.

When asked about the recent acquisitions, the music festival’s Marketing and New Media Manager, Albert Berdellans explained the following:

“WMC will allow veterans and newcomers alike to develop themselves and their organizations to become competitive players in the industry. We are very excited to contribute to the vision of Miami as a hub of entertainment, culture and business.

Throughout the 90’s, the Winter Music Conference has been a marquee event on the EDM calendar, alongside Ultra Miami. However, with the rapid growth of other such events, including the International Music Summit in Ibiza, Amsterdam’s ADE, and Miami Music Week, the WMC saw its dominance diminish relatively. With Miami Music Week and Ultra Miami having coincided since 2011, the Ultra group will aim to establish the Winter Music Conference as one of the premier music conferences, once again.
