In The Netherlands, King’s Day has become a ritual for the top Dutch DJs to celebrate and showcase their music in front of their home crowd to celebrate the special occasion. Koningsdagcelebrated on the 27th of April (26th if the 27th is a Sunday), features large-scale celebrations, concerts, and special events all over the country, with a focus on Amsterdam. This year, the famous SLAM! King’s Day concert, which is hosted in Alkmaar just outside of Amsterdam, saw over 30,000 people attend special performances by Hardwell, Yellow Claw, Blasterjaxx, Firebeatz, Sunnery James & Ryan Marciano, Lucas & Steve, and many more.

Amidst orange-pride, live music, DJs, parties and a citywide street market, you’ll find an electric atmosphere like no other during King’s Day. It’s now a tradition that the best DJs get together on stage to celebrate this special day, in a festival-like setting, with huge stages scattered all over the country. Every year SLAM! FM, one of the biggest radio stations for dance music in The Netherlands, gathers together some of the hottest Dutch DJs of the moment to play sets all day long until the sun goes down. This year King’s Day saw performances from Holland’s very own Hardwell, who always delivers massive sets, hardstyle veteran Brennan Heart, Yellow Claw, Lucas & Steve, Moksi, Frontliner, and many more.

One of the highlights of the day this year was hands down the beautiful tribute to Avicii, who sadly passed away just over a week ago. To commemorate the Swedish artist, Shermanology played some of his tracks live. The whole crowd was singing, inducing goosebumps for the lucky few who were in attendance. If you missed it, you can relive the magic tribute to Avicii here. You can also listen back to most of the sets from Koningsdag on 1001tracklists.

Check out a few of the sets from this year’s King’s Day below.
