Marshmello & Anne-Marie – FRIENDS (Acoustic Version)

When you think of the tools a DJ normally uses, things like a controller and decks come to the mind pretty quickly. However, some DJ and producers often showcase impressive skills on what some people would call unusual instruments for Electronic Dance Music. One prominent example is Number 1 DJ in the world, Martin Garrix, who played an acoustic version of ‘Scared To Be Lonely’ together with Dua Lipa. Now, one of EDM’s hottest Stars right now also decided to come up with an acoustic version for one of his tracks: Marshmello.

Mello’s track together with Anne-Marie, ‘FRIENDS’ is one of the most played tracks of the helmeted producer, so the release of the acoustic version was not a big surprise. One thing that is really surprising, though, is the fact that no other than Marshmello himself is responsible for the guitar sounds of the acoustic version. He and Anne-Marie are casually sitting in a room with white spotted lights, performing their track together. If you would not know that the guy playing the guitar is responsible for multiple top tracks and as well for one of the best sets of Ultra Music Festival 2018 you might think it is a young man showing his talents on the guitar. Of course, we know it is Marshmello and the fact that he also has amazing skills on the guitar is nothing but stunning. Just like the Original version, ‘FRIENDS’ has an amazing vibe, and the acoustic version is perfect for long summer nights or a drive on the coast.

With the release of the acoustic version of the ‘official friendzone anthem’, it was undoubtedly clear that the man with the candy mask can do much more than just produce addictive EDM tunes. In fact, the Number 10 of the DJMag Top 100 voting, Marshmello, underlines how much he deserves the spot in the Top 10 and how much musical talent is inside him.

The power and energy of electronic music and its community amazes me every time. Music expresses things that can't be put into words. And if it can be put into words - then I am here to write about it! Proud to be a 'People of Tomorrow' and glad to call Hardwell my all-time favorite!
