Prime Minister of Sweden writes farewell message to Avicii

In the aftermath following the death of iconic Swedish DJ/producer Avicii yesterday, people all over the world have been paying tribute via Social Media. Many of the most moving messages originated from fellow electronic music producers, many of whom had a personal connection with Avicii. However, the impact of Avicii’s death has spread far beyond the electronic music community, and has rocked his home country Sweden in particular, for whom his success was a huge source of pride. Swedish Prime Minister Stefan Löfven took to Facebook to express his sorrow over the news.

In a heartfelt Facebook post, Stefan Löfven offered his condolences to family and friends of Avicii, and talked about the young star’s influence, hailing him as “one of Sweden’s largest musicians in modern time”. The loss of Avicii is devastating for the whole music industry, and his creative influence on the scene will never be forgotten. Having shaped modern dance music and influenced many of today’s current stars, Avicii’s legacy is far from over, and will live on far into the future.
