With the tragic occurrence of the 2017 Las Vegas shooting behind us, the memory still remains rife within the public at large. And for survivors of the shooting at the Route 91 Harvest Festival, the present month marks a little over 6 months from the harrowing incident. Hoping to rise up from the same, Grammy nominated singer/songwriter Brett Pemberton is looking set to release his collaboration with fellow California resident and DJ/Producer Brian Johnson, who is better known by his TLUXX moniker. Teaming together, the Hollywood residents have craftily created an emotional and didactic track in the shape of ‘We Weren’t Born To Lose’.
Released on Symphonic Distribution, the track is seeped in emotions from the get-go – be it in the touch-and-go snaps and beat-work from TLUXX or the heartfelt songwriting from Pemberton. Showcasing his innate ability on the vocals, Pemberton carries the track across as TLUXX allows synth chords take over and lead the track to an upbeat and rhythmic ‘drop’. Not one to shy away from letting his lyrics do the talking, Pemberton is seen at his best in the track not only as a vocalist but also as a writer, as he showcases why he has been a songwriter to some of the biggest artists of recent times. A pitch perfect collaboration with more meaning than its totality and simplicity, ‘We Weren’t Born To Lose’ is a statement track from the collaborators as they inspire the community towards new beginnings.
