It is always quite interesting to see when an artist switches their signature sound to something new. Unlike his older releases like Turn Up The Speakers’ with Martin Garrix or ‘Hey’, Afrojack‘s new sound is drastically different. The new style of the 30-year old DJ and producer from Rotterdam is heavily influenced by dubstep, trap, and other harder genres. Live sets, like the one at Ultra Music Festival this year, underline his new direction. Now, he has donned his DJ Afrojack alias to release another long awaited banger together with DISTO‘My City’.

The track was released on Afrojack’s own label Wall Recordings. One can clearly hear DISTO’s influence in the buildup, however, the drop is exactly what would be expected from dubstep Afrojack. Even though the track does not have any specific or unique melody between the drops, My City‘ is extremely captivating to listen to. The second drop will make crowds go crazy at festivals and clubs around the world, as it has an even quicker pace than the first. After his latest banger ‘Started‘ as his DJ Afrojack alter-ego together with British star D.O.D, his newest creation doesn’t fail to excite yet again. The Dutch producer always seems to find the right balance between solo tracks, collaborations with other big names in the industry, such as his two good friends David Guetta and Hardwell, and working together with young and talented producers.

My Citywill undoubtedly be a regular feature in Afrojack’s highly energetic live sets, and this festival season is set to be quite busy for the Dutchman. Other than playing at big festivals around the world including Ultra SingaporeUltra Europe in Croatia and Untold Festival in Romania, the Rotterdam native will also bring his Jacked stage to Tomorrowland.
