Stealing the spotlight once again are The Chainsmokers, this time at the 2018 Billboard Music Awards. The American duo took home a handful of big awards, which sets in stone the influence and impact that they have within electronic and pop music culture. Nominated for 6 Billboard Music Awards, Alex Pall and Andrew Taggart walked away with 3 trophies.

The Billboard Music Awards nominees are based on key fan interactions with music, including album and digital song sales, streaming, radio airplay, touring and social engagement. On stage, they received the awards for Top Dance/Electronic Artist, Top Dance/Electronic Album for their latest album ‘Memories…Do Not Open‘, Top Dance/Electronic Song for ‘Something Just Like This’. They also nearly missed out on Top Duo/Group, edged out by Imagine Dragons, and also Top Radio Song which went to Ed Sheeran with his global hit ‘Shape of You‘.

One of the highlights of the night was also the heartfelt speech upon accepting the Top Billboard Dance/Electronic Artist honor, in which the artists dedicated the award to Avicii. The two expressed the sadness for this tragic event and how the producer impacted them and the entire electronic music community.
