Claptone – Birdsong

As clean, crisp, and smooth as we can expect, German maverick Claptone unveils “Birdsong“. Claptone is known for his expertly curated house music that runs rich with fiery grooves, and old-school vibes. Arriving the 8th of June, the mysterious Claptone will deliver his second long play collection of music titled “Fantast” on Different Recordings. The album is highly acclaimed and will feature a wicked line of collaborators including Kele Okereke, Clap Your Hands Say Yeah, Zola Blood, Austra, Nathan Nicholson, Blaenavon, Jones, and Matt Simons.

Birdsong is the first track out of the gates on “Fantast”. It features hazy, drawn-out vocals and dreamy plucks all contained under one big atmospheric flow. Speaking to the albums ambiance, Claptone remarks:

“I admit it’s a dreamy, a heartfelt, at times a naive and surely escapist album, but what to do if one— on the quest for his soul— develops a strong desire to go back to his roots, back to nature? Did I find myself on that journey? Rather not. But I found some beautiful moments in the green, out in the woods, out in the fields, under the moon and in the night, moments, which I want to share with you. And there is one thing I learned and now it can be told, I am and have always been a ‘Fantast’.”

There is something unique about Claptone’s work, his commitment to sound integrity and maintaining his best poise is un-compromised. You can hear the talent and skill dripping out of “Birdsong”. If this track creates big expectations for his album, we are in for a real treat. Calling this album a “counterpoint” to the hectic and transient life of a DJ, Claptone narrows in his sights seeking the best quality imaginable.
