Joe Ghost – Begin Again

You may remember Joe Ghost for his hit collab with Hardwell ‘Are You Ready’ back in 2013, but the old Joe is long gone, as we welcome ‘Begin Again‘, a diverse new debut EP from the Candian DJ and producer, which showcases the artist’s new musical direction out of the ordinary. In this new seven-track EP, we get the sense of moving through different moments of Ghost’s life as a spectator, throughout his multiple influences and frequencies of his memories. Let’s give a warm welcome to the new Joe Ghost.

Joe took the industry by storm and won the hearts of many fans by promulgating high profile, big room house releases like “Crank” on Musical Freedom, “LIBG” on Dim Mak and the Youtube sensation “On The Floor” with Bassjackers and MOTi, which racked up more than 16 million views. Although this part of his career brought incredible success, his progression as an artist has evolved with the fast times we live in, taking him to explore new musical boundaries and scenes, always staying true to his taste and heart. ‘Begin Again’ is a musical representation of this shift, as the EP features a newly crafted sound, rooted in more organic, deep house, and future bass sounds, less tailored for the club (although the closing track ‘Switch’ is a certified party starter) and more of a listening journey.

The seven originally produced tracks give light to some talented special guests such as Joee de Simone and Mermaids Exist on ‘Let It Go, and opening up with the smooth vocals of MKLA on the opening chill track “Give Me the Night”. We were also caught by surprise on the UK garage-house influenced tune “Believe in You”, hands down the grooviest track of the EP, another example of the artist’s intent to explore the endless possibilities of music.

“I approached the EP making process as not just creating individual tracks , but as making the EP as a whole,” explains Ghost, “so each track journeys into one another and life stories and experiences can be told by them.”

Overall, as you listen through this EP, you will find the there’s a common thread tying together all of these tracks, giving character and life to this newly crafter project. Make sure to sit back and enjoy this journey! You can listen to ‘Begin Again‘ on your favorite streaming platform/store.
