Relive Martin Garrix’s biggest moments to celebrate his 22nd birthday
Martijn Gerard Garritsen, better known as Martin Garrix turns 22 today, and having already achieved so much at such a young age – We shall now relive his incredible rise to fame, going from producing in his bedroom to being one of the most sought-after DJs in the world.
Martin was first discovered by legendary DJ and producer Tiësto back in 2012 when the 16-year-old producer was already producing quality music in collaboration with his friends Julian Jordan and Jay Hardway, he also had the opportunity to release his collaboration with Sidney Samson, ‘Torrent‘, on Tiësto’s own Musical Freedom label soon after. Things took a surprising turn in the summer on 2013 when his solo release ‘Animals’ became a number 1 hit worldwide and the official video on YouTube hit over 1 billion views and remains Spinnin Records’ most viewed release to date.
Martin now had to prove to the world he would not go down as a ‘one-hit wonder’, consistently delivering tracks which climbed to the number 1 position on Beatport. Even after moving on, Martin remains one of the biggest names for the big room house movement thanks to tracks like ‘Tremor‘ with Dimitri Vegas & Like Mike and ‘Turn Up The Speakers’ with Afrojack, which still rocks the dancefloor at the world’s biggest festivals to this day.
After leaving Spinnin’ Records, Martin Garrix has truly established himself as one of the greatest artists in the music industry, boasting releases with the biggest artists in the scene like Usher and Bebe Rexha, and even some unreleased works with Ed Sheeran and Ellie Goulding. He launched his new label STMPD RCRDS where he plans to release music with his friends and under his several aliases and won a myriad of awards along the way like WDM Radio’s ‘King of Social Media’ and MTV Millennials ‘Best DJ’ in 2017. An incredible list of achievements given his young age.
Over the years Garrix has proven to be one of the most versatile artists in the industry releasing several different styles of music but maintaining his signature melodic elements. His wonderful personality also keeps his extremely popular with other artists and social media, with Tiësto naming him the “Happiest superstar DJ in EDM“. We are sure this is just the beginning for him and wish him the best for the future.
