Silk City – Only Can Get Better

Diplo is certainly on fire lately. After his two releases together with Sia and Labrinth (LSD) ‘Genius’ and ‘Audio’ he also teamed up with MØ. ‘Stay Open’ is already the fourth collab between the US boy and the Dane. As if this wasn’t enough heat already, the official song for this years FIFA World Cup is also courtesy of Diplo. Now, the 39-year old has formed a new EDM duo together with Mark Ronson – Silk City.

After Diplo showed us how successful producer duos can be, fans were eagerly waiting for a sequel after Diplo and Skrillex ended their Jack Ü project. The first release of Silk City ‘Only Can Get Better’ is a perfect throwback to disco music of the 2000s and if you would not know the artist, you might even think it is a Daft Punk track. Diplo himself summed up the intention of Silk City perfectly:

Silk City is an homage to some of the greatest dance music cities; Chicago, London, Paris, Detroit. Mark Ronson and I met as DJs 20 years ago, and our paths have taken us everywhere since. It is great to get back together and make music.

The duo will play its first official show at the Governor’s Ball Festival in New York. Diplo is a perfect example of a multi-talent. Next, to his solo releases, he is of course also part of the beloved Major Lazer group and now the newly Silk City project.  It is going to be interesting to see what else Silk City has in store. Speaking of new music, Diplo confirmed via Twitter that the collaboration with Dua Lipa will be released this summer.  However, until the release of Silk City x Dua Lipa, you should definitely check out ‘Only Can Get Better’ below and get in the perfect disco vibe!
