Long regarded as one house music’s most innovative and pioneering producer, Australian DJ  Sonny Fodera touched down in London over the May Bank Holiday weekend, bringing his acclaimed Solotoko brand to the East End’s XOYO venue, a vibrant club which has seen a wealth of dance music’s biggest talents, including Claude Vonstroke and Oliver Heldens, play the arena in recent times.

Having already warmed up with a spot at Derby’s Forbidden Forest that afternoon, Sonny was beginning to garner a taste for the appetites held by the UK crowd, plunging himself into a sizzling 4-hour set, led by the DEFECTED favourite’s relentless beats and driven 4 to the floor blend of emotive chord progression. The rabid ravers gathered underneath lapped up every second, as Sonny whizzed through an incredible tracklist, that included some of his deeper cuts, as well as more radio-friendly singles, such as 2016 stomper ‘Always Gonna Be‘ with Alex Mills.

Displaying his penchant for hip-swaying groove-led beats, Sonny aired a wealth of his ‘Frequently Flying’ favourites, including ‘Caught Up’ and the monstrous ‘Feeling You’ with Yasmin, an infectious toe-tapper inspired by Fodera’s signature melodies.

But the loudest cheer of the night was left for the unveiling of his brand new production, the highly addictive ‘Take Me Down’, which features the vocals of Sonny’s long-time collaborator, Alex Mills. A summer anthem strewn with deep basslines, and the club-floor ready tones Sonny has become famed for, the track is out now via Danny Howard‘s ‘Nothing Else Matters’ label and is set to instantly catapult itself to the top spot amongst 2018’s biggest sunshine groovers.

With Sonny Fodera’s XOYO show following sold-out Solotoko event at Manchester Academy in April, Sonny will also perform on the mainstage of Live Festival Dublin, and the BBC Radio 1 stage at Reading & Leeds Festivals this summer, with a 9 date residency already pencilled in at Ibiza Rocks. With further performances at We Are FSTVL, and across Sonny’s USA Tour in June (LA, Palm Springs, San Fransisco, Washington, etc), ‘Take Me Down’ is sure to serve as an anthem that will echo around the globe this year.
