Tiësto’s iconic trance remix of ‘Silence’ turns 18 years old

Back in 2000, many things were different. There was no Facebook, no Instagram, no We Rave You, and the global superstar we now know as Tiësto was known as ‘DJ Tiësto‘, a talented young trance producer from Breda, in the Netherlands. 

Remixing the original by Delerium, Tiësto turned his hand to ‘Silence’, and the result was something no dance fan will ever forget. Utilising Sarah McLachlan‘s emotive vocals, the Dutch DJ’s ‘In Search of Sunrise‘ remix instantly became an all-time Ibiza classic, played regularly in the likes of Amnesia, Privilege, and the now defunct club, Space.

Cementing its place in the upper echelons of trance’s greatest ever hits, Tiësto transformed the track in a way that only he is capable of. Though it is tough to believe that exactly 18 full years have passed since the release this classic, the overflowing raw emotions of the piece remain timeless, even to this day, and prove why Tiësto is regarded by many, as dance music’s greatest ever DJ.
