Since opening as an event back in 2015, the Netherlands’ unique The Flying Dutch festival concept has never failed to provide a top-class experience for its attendees. Hosted in three major cities, Amsterdam, Rotterdam and Eindhoven simultaneously, the festival offers the same line-up for all three venues, flying the performing DJs from city to city. With esteemed artists including Hardwell, Martin Garrix and Nicky Romero on the bill in previous years, the 2018 edition was set to be heading in a similarly perfect direction. This years’ line-up comprised superstar DJs including Tiësto, Armin van Buuren, W&W, Sunnery James & Ryan Marciano, Afrojack and many more.

This year’s TFD festival in Amsterdam was located at the brand new Flying Dutch Park, just 20 minutes outside the vibrant capital. The new park offered various additional attractions such as a ferris wheel overlooking the massive main stage and various food trucks and chill-out areas spread throughout the entire festival grounds. It’s safe to say there was something available for everyone – there was even a small roller coaster to help you boost your adrenaline for the upcoming performers. Once the sun set, visitors were treated to nothing less than a larger-than-life production, with tasty drops and mesmerizing fireworks, all orchestrated underneath the starlit sky.

With the perfect space to showcase the up and coming talent that was on offer, this year saw some of the scene’s rising producers join the heavyweights. Artists like Mike Williams and Lucas & Steve, who last year had major success on Spinnin Records, were given the opportunity to perform later slots as well. Sunnery James & Ryan Marciano, as well as W&W, gave the crowd energetic sets that they are best known for, infused with a number of different genres, bringing the energy ultimately up to the next level. The legendary closing act of the night, Tiësto, delivered a breathtaking performance, controlling the crowd with intoxicating anthems, as they sang along to each of his hits. With plenty of genre-overlapping productions, he was the perfect act to conclude one of the prime festivals on offer in the Netherlands.

The Flying Dutch’s unique lineup and specific concept make it an unmissable event on any dance music lover’s bucket list. Take a look at this year’s aftermovie below.
