American producer Sonny Moore, aka Skrillex, is back in the headlines again, but this time maybe not to the magnitude of the past. The ‘Scary Monsters Nice Sprites‘ and ‘Bangarang‘ producer has been steadily creeping back into the limelight due to a new remix teaser of Pendulum’s ‘The Island‘ from Pegboard Nerds. After a significant amount of time out of the everyday press, with fans eagerly awaiting the next new single or work from Skrillex, Sonny has provided a little spark for his ever-expanding fandom. Even though it may not be in the direct form of an original or even a featured project, Skrillex has been credited with co-producing Lykke Li and Aminé’s new hit track ‘two nights‘. The song has already seen plenty of success, even being named Zane Lowe’s “World Record” on Beats1 Radio.

Lykke Li may not be a household name, but the vocalist is probably best known for her remix of ‘I Follow Rivers‘ by The Magician. Releasing her dual track album with ‘two nights‘ being the leadoff track it’s only natural that the co-production would lead off the selection.
Knowing of Skrillex’s professional stamp on the song, subtle production elements such as the pitched vocal samples, the soft yet crucially driving kick, and spacey background ambiance stand out and just scream of Sonny’s direct influence. Of course, to Skrillex, working with talented vocalists and hip-hop/R&B artists is nothing new, so it’s no surprise the tune sees a bit of an upbeat hat centric switch for the brief minute of hip-hop/R&B sensation, Animé’s, feature.
With Lykke Li’s album release of ‘So Sad So Sexy‘ right around the corner, stay tuned for more info on the album. However, in the meantime listen to ‘two nights‘ below via Spotify.
