Taylor Dahlia – Straightjacket
American pop songstress Taylor Dahlia has released her debut single titled ‘Straightjacket‘. A self-confessed “dark and twisty gal”, the American is making plenty of noise with her latest track. A recording artist and classically trained cellist emerging from the dynamic music scene of Nashville, Tennesee, Dahlia’s debut single is set to make waves in the county music capital.
The track kicks off with just a reverb-soaked guitar and Dahlia’s vocals until the chorus, where vivid lead synths and warm bass fill out the frequency spectrum. In the midst of the chorus, Dahlia’s double-tracked vocals help add chaos to the full-on chorus and cleanly cut through the mix in order to flaunt the track’s strongest asset.
A self-described twisted love child of modern-day muses such as Bishop Briggs and ZZ Ward, Dahlia’s latest track ‘Straightjacket’ combines soulful melodies, dark and captivating lyricism, and a touch of electronic influence to create a pleasantly unsettling brand of dark soul pop listeners just can’t get enough of.
To celebrate the track’s success, Dahlia has announced a remix competition via MetaPop, with entries closing on July 1. The winner will receive a Native Instruments $200 store voucher, an official commercial release on AFRP/AFP along with social media promotion across networks of more than 2 million followers.
