Michael Porter – Weekend feat. Amy Gerhartz

20-year-old Polish producer/DJ Michael Porter is making his debut on Brook Gee Records with his new single; ‘Weekend‘ alongside singer/songwriter, Amy Gerhartz. Having built a diverse portfolio of music over the past few months, Porter has finally earned himself his first official release on the popular label.

An archetypal Pop/Tropical record, the track’s bright & bubbly nature and lyrics compliment Gerhartz’s soft, delicate vocals down to a tee. The track opens with warm pads and a gentle piano, wrapped around Gerhartz’s vocals, setting the tone for what is a relaxing, tranquil record. As the breakdown approaches, the track kicks up a level, setting the stage for the drop.

Poppy vocal chops, finger snaps, soft shakers and hats are backed by a warm bassline, creating an authentic summer atmosphere. Following a similar template to that of the first break, a slight variation is introduced, retaining the piano melody from the drop to help the track progress, as opposed to keeping the 4/4 chords. Taking an unorthodox approach, the track concludes with the pre-chorus lyrics meshed into a verse/bridge structure, rather than closing out with another drop or outro.
