Almost half a year after the Swede’s tragic passing, Tim Bergling, better known as Avicii continues to win awards for his outstanding productions and timeless melodies. Just last week, the Swedish Rockbjörnen gala in Stockholm awarded the late DJ and producer Best Swedish Song of the Year. Tim’s father, Klas Bergling, accepted the award on his son’s behalf and gave an emotional speech thanking everyone who tributed Tim and his music.

thank you for all and every amazing tribute you have given Tim and his music. From all his fans and others, from churches, schools, festivals and so many more. It’s been almost incomprehensible and it has warmed our hearts, all of the family, during this hard time, so again a big thank you to everyone.

Avicii also won Best Dance at the MTV Video Music Awards in New York for his hit collaboration with Rita Ora ‘Lonely Together’. The song was awarded for the incredible music video directed by Levan Tsikurishvili and Phillip R. Lopez. When nominated for the award a week ago, Levan Tsikurishvili spoke about the video and how Tim’s passing affected him.

it’s great [to be nominated], but at the same time, its very emotional…I feel a responsibility to keep up his spirit and be there; to do this interview, for example. To not forget him, to be able to get out the message to the fans and to the people that loved him. He could easily be director by himself…He was really an amazing storyteller, apart from the music. I don’t know where that came from. He would always take the next step on every video we did when it came to understand the whole process.

Avicii’s final EP featuring ‘Lonley Together’ recently turned 1 year old, with rumours spreading that his collaboration with Coldplay singer Chris Martin ‘Heaven’ might be getting a posthumous release in the near future.
