Belgian actor, martial artist, screenwriter, film producer, and director Jean-Claude Van Damme is back in the action film Lukas, but this time, the multi-faceted star is accompanied by a familiar face. The film stars several notable figures including Sveva Alviti, Sami Bouajila, Sam Louwyck, and more, however there’s one notably large figure in the dance community named Dimitri Thivalos who also got his chance to star in the film – you may know as Dimitri “Vegas” Thivalos.
Originally noted for its release in France. JCVD, plays Lukas, a nightclub bouncer in his fifties who’s taken punches, literally and figuratively, and struggles to raise his 8-year-old daughter. After he’s arrested, the only way for Lukas to get his daughter back is to work with Interpol to bring down a criminal organization and it’s kingpin operating from Belgium.
Outside of his music career, our industry veteran Dimitri Thivalos has been working harder than ever consistently expanding and working on his acting career. He recently appeared in the third feature film from Moroccan directors Adil El Arbi & Bilall Falah titled Patser (meaning Gangsta). On top of this recent film involvement, Thivalos also has stared and been credited on Safety First: The Movie and George C. Romero’s ‘Rise Of The Living Dead’ – the follow up to cult-horror Night Of The Living Dead.
Needless to say, the Belgian’s affinity toward the big screen is seemingly growing with every on screen credit he’s granted. How he finds the time to juggle multiple festivals, movie shoots, productions and more the world may never know. However, the one thing we can deduce is regardless of your initial perception of Dimitri “Vegas” Thivalos, the man and 1/2 of the one of the worlds largest dance music acts is extremely multi-talented and hardworking. Following in the steps of so many before him like Steve Aoki, Diplo and more, we’re watching Dimitri continue his stride into usurping the label of “musician” and stepping into the role of business mogul.
