Gaining momentum through every release, Mike Williams is certainly earning himself a reputation as one of the fast-emerging talents on the electronic scene today. Just this year alone the music producer has enjoyed a wealth of success following the release of his electric collaboration with R3hab – ‘Lullaby‘ earlier this year as well as playing a host of performances from Ultra Miami to most recently; Tomorrowland. The 21-year-old producer’s productions stand out with their unique, bouncy & energetic melodies. In turn, the DJ has garnered huge support from the likes of Hardwell, W&W, and Dimitri Vegas & Like Mike.

Now, the Dutchman is back with another sizzling track called ‘The Beat‘ dropping on Spinnin Records’. This time, Williams is packing quite the punch, as this release turns up the heat with insane basslines while keeping true to his signature sound, with epic melodic hooks and vocals. Already road tested and a proved fan favourite, ‘The Beat’ arrives just in time for the latter stages of summer. We Rave You caught up with the young producer for an exclusive interview.

2016 was a breakthrough year for you, noticed by Tiësto who signed and released your debut single ‘Sweet and Sour’ on his label Musical Freedom. Since then you have made quite the name for yourself, what’s the journey been like for Mike Williams the past two years?

Yes, it feels crazy. 2016 already feels like such a long time ago. So many things happened in these two years! We did so many cool shows and I’m super happy with the great responses on my tracks. It’s been a wild ride, but a dream come true! Hopefully I can continue with all this positivity for a long time.

You have just released your stunning new single ‘The Beat’, tell us more about the track?

That’s right! This track was my intro track at my shows for a long time. I really wanted to make a phat club track to start my set with, especially for Ultra Miami. After seeing great responses everywhere, now it’s finally released!

The Beat’ is definitely a feisty track by nature, how did you decide on the intensity of the track while still thriving with plenty of melodic hooks and vocals throughout?

I love playing with melodies and vocals, so those are elements you’ll always hear in my tracks. With this particular record, I wanted to stay true to this melodic approach and at the same time turn it into something super energetic and simply a track to jump on! Not too difficult, just straightforward! It feels like I succeeded with that 🙂

You dropped the track during your Tomorrowland performance this year, how do you think it went down with the crowd?

Yes! It went great! I used it as my intro and later played Hardwell’s edit of it. People loved it!

Earlier this year you delivered a blazing performance on Ultra Miami’s main stage, can you tell us how it felt to return to Tomorrowland this year and play the Musical Freedom stage?

Thank you! Ultra was insane for sure! I felt honoured to do another year at Tomorrowland. The Musical Freedom stage was amazing, so many party people. Big shout out to Tiësto for having me!

We have heard there is a future collaboration with platinum-selling artist Felix Jaehn and yourself, can you tell us a bit more?

Well, we already released one last year! Just listen to our collab track ‘Feel Good’, it’s turned into one of my most popular records so far. We might hit the studio for a follow up, but we don’t know yet!

2018 has been quite the year for you, you released your smash hit ‘Lullaby’ with R3hab and later dropped ‘Give It Up’ through spring. What is next for Mike Williams? What can we expect to hear?

Thanks! So much new music coming up. At the moment I’m super busy with touring. But I can’t wait to let you hear all my new music. Oh yeah, and a cool surprise coming up for ADE!
