ZHU – Coming Home feat. Majid Jordan

Receiving support from Pete Tong on one of your first track’s and seeing it as the Essential New Tune just a couple of months into your production career is something that very few, if any people can say. For ZHU, however, it was just part of the journey that took him from an anonymous producer releasing tracks on Soundcloud, to an award-winning, festival-dominating superstar. Taking to the likes of Ultra Music Festival in Miami, Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival in California, and having his own world tour, ZHU’s rise from the early success of ‘Faded‘ is simply phenomenal. Following up his recent release ‘My Life‘ with Tame Impala, ZHU is back with a new track, littered with retro 80’s sounds and titled ‘Coming Home‘.

The track features Majid Jordan, a Canadian R&B duo who provide vocals and most likely some production input too given member Jordan Ullman‘s production side. The low-tempo, retro-styled sounds that radiate through the track intertwine with Majid Al Maskati‘s vocals to create a truly incredible production. Infused with heavily reverberated guitars, the track has an 80’s disco vibe but at a much lower pace, making it serendipitous through its short 3min 33second length. Injected with more layers that blend fluidly, ‘Coming Home‘ is nothing short of a masterpiece, and flaunts the unrivalled talent of the American at the helm: ZHU. The track adds to his ever growing collection alongside the likes of ‘In The Morning‘ with the legendary Kaskade, and ‘Working For It‘ which is a collaboration with Skrillex, giving his repertoire even more depth and variety.

Remaining anonymous until mid-2014 kept people wondering who was behind the ZHU persona, but meant people listened to the music neutrally and judged the artist on their productions, which satisfied the intentions of ZHU. Since then, four years later, the American is continually on the up.
