Alvaro & Mercer’s ‘Welcome To The Jungle’ turns 5 years old

Once a staple in the festival scene and still heavily utilized globally – Alvaro & Mercer’s hit ‘Welcome to the Jungle‘ featuring Lil Jon turns 5-years old. It seems just like yesterday when the tune was first debuted via Revealed Recordings. Looking back, the release translates an interesting time in dance music where progressive house, electro house, and big room were slowly beginning to see their way out of the mainstream. Despite the trend fall off, the release continued on another sparking trend in vocal features. Of course who other to capitalize on a developing trend than Lil Jon, who graced the track with his high energy profile creating a truly polarizing sound to the tune.

What started in 2010 with LMAFO’s ‘Outta Your Mind‘ following into 2012 with Steve Aoki’s ‘Turbulence‘, the rappers inclusion on ‘Welcome to the Jungle‘ gave the festival featured tune a massive nod in it’s rise to eventually frequent festival sets across the globe. It’s no surprise the tune became so well know, the only surprise is that it’s been 5 years since the tune’s release. It seems like just yesterday ‘Welcome to the Jungle‘ was one of the hottest party starters released. What’s even funnier looking back on the tune, now that the timeline is available – it was Lil Jon who later in that very same year appeared on DJ Snake’s international sensation ‘Turn Down For What‘ – a completely different sound and a new staple for dance music.
