This summer, one of Hï Ibiza‘s most popular 2017 residencies made its eagerly-awaited return. Heading back to the island for a string of dates from June to September, Armin van Buuren and Sunnery James & Ryan Marciano reminded audiences exactly why their sets have achieved such widespread critical acclaim. Last week, the three artists celebrated the closing of their residency with support from Super8 & Tab, Estiva, Sander van Doorn and Leroy Styles.
Estiva kicked off proceedings with a classic-filled set spanning the trance genre. Kickstarting the euphoria early, Estiva effortlessly navigated from hit to hit, warming up the audience with a selection of esteemed classics and brand new hits. Simultaneously, Leroy Styles and Sander van Doorn got the party started in the club room, unleashing an abundance of bass-heavy house hits. The contrast between the two rooms at the residency throughout the summer ensured that there was something for everyone in attendance.
Second onto the theatre stage was Armin van Buuren himself, who unleashed a ferocious energy from the moment he jumped on stage. His set was filled with trance classics and some of his more modern hits. During the middle of his set he surprised fans by even dropping some tech house/techno tracks including Fisher‘s ‘Losing It‘. Jumping from genre to genre, he made light work of shifting from track to track, showcasing her versatility as a DJ. Later on in the set he delved further into his own discography, encouraging the whole crowd to jump in-time to his global hit with Vini Vici and Hilight Tribe, ‘Great Spirit‘. The result was an incredible moment bursting with adrenaline, accompanied by stunning visuals.
To close the night, Armin van Buuren joined Sunnery James & Ryan Marciano in the club room while Super8 & Tab took over the main theatre room. The exciting back to back set provoked a huge reaction from the audience, as the energy in the club reached the next level. Throughout the summer the residency has brought in fans from around the world due to its undeniable popularity. Armin van Buuren has once again proven himself to be the king of trance, commanding a huge loyal worldwide fanbase. The residency looks set to return next year, bringing even more trance fans to Hï.
