It’s always great to see DJs/producers making an effort for a good cause, especially because their busy touring schedules don’t allow them a lot of free time. Armin van Buuren has just become the latest artist to donate some of his precious spare time to a fantastic initiative by the Muziekids Foundation in his home country of the Netherlands.  The Dutch king of Trance was asked by Muziekids to open a new music studio in the Prinses Máxima Centrum in Utrecht, a hospital where children who suffer from cancer are being treated.  It is now the sixth hospital in the Netherlands where Muziekids has installed such a studio, so that children with cancer can take their minds of their illnesses, while being creative and experimenting with music.

Not only did Armin van Buuren open the music studio in the Prinses Máxima Centrum, his name is also officially tied to it. He now follows in the footsteps of several other Dutch celebrities who saw their names tied to the Muziekids hospital music studio’s in the cities of Tilburg, Almere and Hilversum, amongst others. Van Buuren officially opened the studio together with a few young cancer patients and the mayor of the city of Utrecht. After the opening, he met with hundreds of kids and other visitors who came by to experience the brand new studio. Earlier this year, fellow Dutchman Don Diablo also made news regarding the fate of Dutch cancer patients, as he donated ticket proceeds of his European tour to the Dutch Cancer Society (KWF).

Armin van Buuren explains why he immediately said ‘yes’ to the initiative of the Muziekids Foundation:

“First of all I have children of my own, so it (cancer) could very well happen to me as well, that my son or daughter gets cancer. Unfortunately there’s a history of the disease in my family, too.  Second of all, I know how much music means to me and how it can take my mind of other things for a while. Life is nothing without music and therefore it’s an honor for me to tie my name to this great initiative”.

In the second part of Armin van Buuren’s latest vlog you can see him at the opening of the music studio in the Prinses Máxima Centrum in Utrecht. Check out the full vlog down below.
