As a DJ, you are often expected to be more than someone who just plays tunes nowadays. You have to entertain the crowd, talk to them, jump up and down, scream your lungs out and what not. Of course, you are not forced to do it, by any means. Just imagine Solomun jumping up and down and screaming into the mic while he plays some of his beloved techno tunes. That would simply not fit – He is not Like Mike, after all. However, one DJ and producer who surely knows how to entertain the crowd is US-American Dillon Francis. Gaining fame in 2014 with hit-single ‘Get Low’ togehter with DJ Snake, the 31-year old has grown into an established and well-known DJ. Now, he has been nominated for the Latin Grammys and for the Latin Music Award for his track ‘Sexo’.

The track is part of his forthcoming album ‘Wut Wut’ and clearly got inspired by Latin American music that got released lately – J Balvin, as an example. Even though the vocals of Dillon Francis’ collab with Residente and iLE are in Spanish, the theme of the song is obvious: Sex(o). Nevertheless, the track got nominated for 2 prizes. At the Latin Grammys, the track is nominated for Best Short Form Music Video and at the Latin Music Awards for Favorite Video. Given the high-class production of the colorful music video and the huge success, Dillon Francis had especially in Latin America with it, these nominations don’t come as a surprise.

Despite the nominations, many “older” Dillon Francis fans weren’t too happy about the song. They are more used to tracks such as ‘Need You’ and Say Less’ togehter with Hip-Hop heavyweight G-Eazy. It is going to be interesting to see how the sound of ‘Wut Wut’ will turn out and if Francis will be able to please his hardcore fans.
