Marshmello is America’s favorite EDM artist
The American Music Awards are one of the most important prizes in the whole music industry. No matter if you are a DJ, a pop singer, a rock band or something else related to music then this is one of the ultimate awards to win. This year’s top winner was renowned Country singer Taylor Swift. The 28-year old won prizes in top-categories like Tour Of The Year and Favorite Female Artist. She also won the most important prize of the evening – Artist Of The Year. Other honorable winners were Post Malone and Carrie Underwood. However, for us electronic dance music enthusiasts the category Favorite Artist – Electronic Dance Music was clearly the most interesting one.
As we all know, the EDM scene in the US is getting bigger every year. Despite the already huge amount of fans and ravers. the evolution of dance music in the United States is really going off during the last couple of years. Festivals like Electric Daisy Carnival and the world famous Ultra Music Festival in Miami are a huge part of this development. But more so, the endless amount of talented DJs and producers in the US are the reason why it is growing so rapidly. Names like Skrillex, KAYZO, Slushii, and Jauz are a regular guest at festivals worldwide. The AMA prize, however, could only go to one artist. The Chainsmokers and Germany’s finest EDM export Zedd were amongst the nominees, but could not win the fight against a very sweet candy. Of course, we are talking about Marshmello, who won the Favorite Artist award in the category EDM. His tremendous success over the last couple of years and months helped the helmeted DJ succeed. Especially his track with Bastille, ‘Happier’ is still on the top of Billboard’s Hot Dance/Electronic charts.
