Amsterdam Music Festival has become one of the most iconic events in the dance music scene over the years, hosting some of the biggest names in the scene and the annual DJ Mag Top 100 awards. This year’s edition marked the 25th anniversary of the award, which confirmed Martin Garrix as the world’s number 1 DJ. The event was held in a sold-out Johan Cruijff ArenA which provided an incredible crowd and atmosphere right until the end of the festival.

The night was opened up expertly by Lost Frequencies and Sunnery James & Ryan Marciano as the countdown showed this year’s top 100 DJs. As the countdown reached the final 3 tension built for the crowd and those following online before the announcement finally arrived and Martin Garrix was awarded on stage by Martin Carvell.

After a scintillating performance by the world’s number one DJ, the mainstage was taken over for the second year in a row by II=I (2 equals 1) which this year was formed by David Guetta and Dimitri Vegas & Like Mike. They performed a spectacular set filled with bangers and massive amounts of energy. They also premiered a new collaboration together which will be coming out soon. Axwell Λ Ingrosso took over next, delivering yet another sensational set filled with new music and classic hits.

KSHMR also performed a memorable set, driven by his strong, diverse productions and spectacular cinematic visuals to accompany the sound. The crowd reacted incredibly chanting along to his biggest hits, including ‘Secrets’, his collaboration with the legendary Tiësto. His performance was followed by W&W, who played some real crowd pleasers and many of their well festival remixes.

Vini Vici took over from W&W and played a relentless psytrance set which kept the energy levels high throughout while also playing a new upcoming track from the Israeli duo. The closing duties were handed over to Salvatore Ganacci, who entertained the crowd with his on-stage antics and interactions.

All in all, this was probably the biggest iteration of AMF we have seen to date. Be sure to check out the official website to watch back all the performances and pre-register for AMF 2019.
