Calvin Harris reveals displeasure with current direction of EDM
Scotland’s biggest musical export, Calvin Harris is unreservedly one of the most influential artists of the modern era. Known for his diversity and durability, Harris’ sound has fluctuated over the years with great success, however, it was his EDM era that captured the hearts of fans across the globe. Now, turning to more alternative & House-oriented sounds, Harris recently hosted a Twitter q&a, where he explained his displeasure with EDM’s current state.
Harris, whose “golden years” came between 2012-2014, proved to be some of his most memorable. Having released 2 albums during the time frame; ’18 months’ and ‘Motion’, both of which earned a combined 7x Platinum and 4x Gold certifications across the biggest countries in the world, Calvin Harris quickly rose to EDM immortality. He also made history with, ‘18 Months’, as it became the first album in history to spawn nine top 10 singles in the UK Singles Chart.
With his recent successes spawning from tracks such as ‘Promises’ with Sam Smith and ‘One Kiss’ Dua Lipa, Harris’ current tastes clearly lie within the realms of House. Despite this, he was quick to squash rumours of an album centred around the sound.
