Tiësto club classic ‘Escape Me’ with Avicii remix turns 9 years old today

From the opening chords, it was clear that Tiësto had stumbled upon a classic. We are, of course, referring to ‘Escape Me’, the huge club anthem that was released on this day in 2009. Now celebrating 9 years since release, it is almost mind boggling to believe that so many years have passed since the track dropped, with ‘Escape Me’ still sounding fresher than ever in 2018.

Utilising the incredible tones of the seductive C.C. Sheffield, who really smashed this one vocally, ‘Escape Me’ was taken from Tiësto’s ‘Kaleidoscope’ album; a production which divided fan opinion at the time as Tijs left his trance roots to pursue a more commercially friendly approach. The gamble worked in his favour, with the album also spawning collaborations with the likes of Calvin Harris (‘Century’), and Nelly Furtado (‘Who Wants To Be Alone’), but it was ‘Escape Me’ which proved the album’s pièce de résistance.

With legendary producer Avicii later going on to spin his own world-class remix of the record, ‘Escape Me’ truly belongs in the pantheon of modern EDM classics, and turns 9 years old today! From all the team at We Rave You, we’d like to wish a big happy birthday to a true Tiësto anthem, and you can relive it below via a brief stroll down nostalgia avenue, with the special visual version which Tiësto used to play in his live shows around the 2011-2013 period:
