Just before 2018 is coming to a close, Above & Beyond surprises their loyal trance fanbase with an early Christmas present. The British trance trio has just dropped their first official collaboration in almost eight years and what a masterpiece it is! The new single is titled ‘Long Way From Home’ and Above & Beyond teamed up with Anjunabeats family member Spencer Brown and RBBTS for it.

‘Long Way From Home’ is the first collaboration since the UK group, which is made up of Jono Grant, Tony McGuinness and Paavo Siljamäki, joined forces with Kyau & Albert on ‘Anphonic’, back in 2010. It’s been worth the wait though, because the track’s amazing emotive melody in combination with its sweeping synths and deep, dreamy vocals instantly put you in that melancholic, wintery mood.

The song actually considers the experience of loneliness that besets many touring artists. In fact, the first sketch of the track was laid down by Paavo and Spencer when touring the world together, in a Melbourne hotel room – a long way from home. Paavo explains:

“Both Spencer and myself know all too well what it’s like being a touring musician. Filled with totally amazing, high moments, but also lonely moments in hotel rooms far away from home. We’d both been travelling for hours feeling somewhat lost and lonely and ended up spending the day together talking about it all. We found ourselves making a song about it all in a makeshift hotel room studio.”

Above & Beyond has had an amazing year so far. Their 4th studio album ‘Common Ground’ was released back in January and it may very well be one of the best albums of the year 2018. On top of that they toured all around the world in support of the album and a month ago they were announced as one of the headliners of Armin van Buuren‘s ASOT 900 Festival.

The group’s new single ‘Long Way From Home’ comes with a funky neon video, which you can check out down below on YouTube.
