One of their first ever releases on the charts since the unfortunate break-up of the Swedish House Mafia trio, Axwell & Ingrosso’s now hit single ‘Something New’ was a bit of an indicator of what the two expected from their new venture back in 2014. After starting out on a new footing under the ‘Axwell Λ Ingrosso‘ banner, the two industry legends portrayed the ‘dawn of a new beginning’ with the release of the track and have never looked back since. The single was premiered as part of the ‘Beats by Dre Presents: #SoloSelfie‘ ad campaign and was released a bit later. What’s more is that the track completes 4 years since its release today.
A thumping original to say the least, ‘Something New’ was a single seeped in the sumptuous vocals of fellow Swedes, Salem Al Fakir, and Vincent Pontare, who are no new faces to the industry – with the former having collaborated with Axwell & Ingrosso in 2015 and 2016 and the latter being a regular feature on tracks by the likes of Swedish House Mafia, David Guetta, Avicii among a myriad other. The track garnered huge success on the charts and streaming platforms and has received a lyric video as well as a music video, raking in more than 19 million views in total. Assured to hold its place in the history of dance music’s better releases, ‘Something New’ indeed marked a new beginning for Axwell & Ingrosso up until the trio decided to get the gang back together in 2018.
