Dance giants DJMag and Beatport partner up to give fans a new take on the notorious DJMag Top 100. House (not meant as a synonym for EDM) and techno have undeniably been one of the most prominent sub-genres of 2018. Whether it was FISHER‘s “Losing It“, or the incredible work of Kölsch, Carl Cox, Camelphat, and others, tech house and techno have risen to become some of the most respected genres.

Beatport is one of the largest, specialized online stores for purchasing electronic music and houses loads of diverse genres. Taking a peek at the charts and top 100 rankings across the store, one could notice that tech, house, and techno do perform very well compared to other, respective mainstream genres. DJMag and Beatport organized this list by sales trend data and DJ Mag votes. YourEDM has observed how “If the list becomes a staple, it could very well replace the defunct Resident Advisor”.

Beatport routinely becomes a hub where trends are born, new artists make an entry, and fans can support new trend setters. This new list will most likely cater to fans of these respective genres and offers followers of the whole dance scene to see the “Top100” list from a different perspective. All in all, this list goes to show the enormous diversity present within the electronic music scene in general. With a plethora of sub genres, the scene is constantly evolving and diversifying at alarmingly fast rates. The top 3 artists are Carl Cox, Claptone, and Richie Hawtin.
