It’s been an absolute whirlwind of a year for DJ Snake. Kicking off 2018 with ‘Magenta Riddim’, a tribute to India- a country he continuously praises in several interviews- as well as more recently collaborating with Selena Gomez, Ozuna, & Cardi B whereby the track has already garnered a staggering 400 million streams on Spotify. In fact, upon the first week of release, the tune amassed over 20 million hits, making it the most successful EDM/Latin crossover to date. To think that either’s enough, it doesn’t compete to Snake’s celebration after France were crowned victors of this year’s World Cup in Russia, after defeating Croatia in a heated final of class football. In recognition of his love for the sport, he was able to get his shot at competing within the FIFA 19 World Tour.
Set at the PSG stadium, famed for winning first division league football in France 7 times, as well as having DJ Snake claim it as a “second home”, he went head-to-head with favourite footballer Neymar JR. The pair encountered a friendly reunion, considering Snake finds himself at the PSG dressing room after every game. In citing Neymar as his hero, he makes sure to point out that “the way he plays, it’s like he can see what’s going to happen before it does.” They even had a chance to hang around with local youth enthusiasts of both the sport and admirers of the 2 men in subject.
