No doubt one of the most iconic remixes of our times came out 8 years ago today. Swedish House Mafia member and dance music pioneer Steve Angello teamed up with his brother AN21 and controversial DJ and producer Max Vangeli to interpret Pendulum’s legendary track ‘The Island’. The remix rocked all the biggest stages around the world as the 3 producers were able to capture the best elements from the original and channel them into a true progressive house anthem. The remix is driven by Rob Swire‘s iconic and unique vocal, accompanied by the timeless melody. By introducing new elements to the mix progressively, the track builds an enormous amount of tension which is released once the drop hits and the melody takes the spotlight.

Earlier this year, Pendulum released a stunning new album ‘The Reworks‘, where their greatest hits are reinterpreted by some of the most influential artists in the scene. Featuring remixes by the likes of SkrillexMobyEelke Kleijn among many others, the album was a huge success with fans all over the world.

2018 has been a huge year for Size Records boss Steve Angello, who most notably reunited with his friends Axwell and Sebastian Ingrosso at Ultra Miami. He later released his second studio album ‘Human’ and is now ready to perform at the highly anticipated Swedish House Mafia shows which have been announced for 2019.

Be sure to listen to this timeless remix once more in celebration of its birthday on YouTube below.
