Swedish House Mafia former manager Amy Thomson shares comeback story
Without a doubt, the comeback and reunion of one of the most influential electronic dance music artist in the 21st century was the biggest story this year. Of course, we are talking about Swedish House Mafia. During this year’s Ultra Music Festival in Miami, the trio consisting of Axwell, Sebastian Ingrosso, and Steve Angello came back to the place, where the called it a career 5 years ago, in 2013. Normally, you would believe that such a huge comeback plan takes months, or even years, to prepare. Especially because the relationship between the three Swedes has not been the best when they ended their Swedish House Mafia journey in 2013. But now, former SHM manager Amy Thomson has shared the process of making the unexpected a reality – and it was easier and quicker than we all thought.
She shared the reunion story through her latest Instagram post since exactly one year ago the process took flight. Amy elaborates on how she received a call from Ultra’s co-founder Adam Russakoff early in the morning. His statement was short but clearly:
Come on, Amy. It’s time.
And it was time indeed. Just one week after the call, the three Swedes and Amy were sitting in a room, reminiscing about the past 5 years where they have not seen each other and drinking coffee while agreeing that there will be a show at Ultra’s 20th anniversary. And, as we now know, much, much more than that. Even though Amy is not part of the SHM family anymore, it becomes clear that without her we probably would have never seen the comeback of Swedish House Mafia as well as all the upcoming gigs in 2019.
It is remarkable how a simple call, a simple sentence, even just a simple dream can spark the beginning of a new chapter. Because, as we all know, it surely was time. But even better, it IS time – time for the Swedish House Mafia to save the world yet again, don’t you worry child!

Exactly a year ago today I was walking out my door to my car to the airport to fly to Sweden when @adamrussakoff called me and said come on Amy. It’s Time. And one week later it was agreed. Sat in a room where they had genuinely not seen each other for 5 years. Drinking coffee. 3 months later I was on that stage at 6am in a leather jacket testing lasers didn’t burn the back of them. We never got chance to test the fire would go that high except for one unit, but when it went off and those 3 friends who had not seen each other for 5 years were surrounded by fire which i think is the only photo which shows the booth was made from mirror. Which was symbolic for them and underneath it … it was engraved. (But what did it say 😉) This picture came from that phone call which as always was from Adam too early in the morning 🙂 the fire idea came from a meeting where we all said for fucks sake. Let’s just burn the whole thing when no one could decide what to do. Turns out it was one of my favorite show moments ever. 🔥
