Gorillaz frontman Damon Albarn joins forces with Flume in the studio

Home Uncategorized Gorillaz frontman Damon Albarn joins forces with Flume in the studio

The last time we heard about Flume, whose real name is Harley Edward Streten, was all too recently when the music producer announced he would be back in 2019 for what we assumed would be new music in the pipeline. Well luckily, we need not hold our breathes for too long because it has been revealed that the Australian has been in the studio, however, he was not alone. If you’re looking for an electronic artist collaboration, you won’t find it here. What you will find is Damon Albarn OBE, or as you may know him, the lead vocalist, instrumentalist, and principal songwriter of British virtual band Gorillaz.

The news surrounding this exciting pairing was broken on Twitter by user Electric Hawk who tweeted about both Flume and Damon working together in the studio in the past year. In the tweet, Electric Hawk wrote:

“y’all know Flume and Gorillaz have been in the studio together in the last year??? Y’all realize what the F*** we’re getting into this next Flume project????? I’m not okay…”

Frankly, we’re not ok either, perhaps more joyous and over the moon that a potential collaboration from two huge artists could be coming our way. Electric Hawk went on to tweet a video of Damon from Gorillaz mentioning himself working with Flume in his Beats1 interview. This is certainly exciting because, as dance music enthusiasts, we all know what Harley is capable of. However, coupled with the Gorillaz frontman of a band who have sought worldwide success with award-winning music, there is no telling just how epic a collaboration would be.

We’ll be keeping an eye on this one to make sure we break the news as soon as anything is announced. In the meantime, you can check out the tweet and the Beats1 interview with Damon Albarn below.
