Mattjax – Back to 69 EP

An artist who rediscovered his love for producing everything with a hint of disco, Dutch producer Mattjax is someone who has not only stuck to his passion but also honed his skills to be one of the prime artists of the ‘Nu-Disco’ genre. The Dutchman had earlier plied his trade in other mainstream genres before making the native turn towards the sumptuous sounds of disco. Since then, the budding producer has released music on premier labels such as Disco:wax, 12th Floor Records and Revealed Recordings among others. What remains thoroughly constant throughout this exchange is the support he has received from the upper echelons of the dance music industry, with the likes of HardwellOliver Heldens, Dannic and Nicky Romero supporting his efforts. Pairing with 12th Floor Records imprint again, Mattjax looks to impress with the release his first two-track EP titled ‘Back To 69’.

The EP features two stellar productions: the title track ‘Back To 69’ and a collaboration with American producer Dynamique titled ‘Like a Melody’. Employing well crafted plucks and a serenading foundation, the title track opens the EP with great promise. What stands out is Mattjax’ penchant for letting the jaw-dropping bass lines take full control of the track – adding a refreshing ripeness to the production as a whole. The second from the EP, ‘Like a Melody’ sees Mattjax and Dynamique collaborating with great panache. As the infectious vocals keep the listener wanting more, it is the ingenious attention to detail that helps the track make the jump from being a comparatively laid-back track to a lot more enjoyable experience. Quickly amassing an arsenal of enthusing hits, the ‘Back To 69’ EP makes for yet another set of sensational Mattjax releases.
