While the dance music community is in a festive mood throughout the year, New Year’s brings with it some remarkable few days. It is an industry where while Armin‘s birthday marks the end of the year, it is Nicky Romero whose birthday marks the beginning of the new one. Nicky is yet another Dutchman who has done it all and deserves his own special space in the list of the country’s seemingly unending list of music producers who have made it big internationally. The Protocol Recordings head-honcho, who has given many a talent a shot at success through releases on the imprint, is widely considered an adept tastemaker and another posterboy of dance music’s rise to the forefront of the entertainment market. And with today being his birthday, we decided to celebrate it by throwing back to his 2013 Ultra Miami set.

2013 possibly marks the full-fledged arrival of dance music at the peak of entertainment globally. The Ultra franchise’s Miami show were an assured hit among the fans and the mainstage performances were stacked with top notch artists. Nicky took to the occasion with great preparation and dished out some of the finest singles of the time – kicking off with the beloved ‘I Could Be The One‘ collab he made with Avicii. Featuring other hits such as ‘Symphonica‘, ‘Like Home‘ and ‘Legacy’ with the Nervo sisters and the famous ‘Toulouse‘, Nicky Romero arguably bossed the mainstage in one his most iconic performances. Watch below and relive the good times.
