R3HAB & Jocelyn Alice – Radio Silence EP

Having begun his career around 2008, with a crunching set of releases with Hardwell and the likes, on labels such as Slized Recordings and Nasty Tunes, Dutch DJ and record producer R3HAB has certainly come a long way. Today, he ranks among the crème de la crème of the industry and has certainly garnered a huge following with his steady flow of releases. Adding to this flow, the Dutchman recently released the ‘Radio Silence’ EP, featuring Canadian singer/songwriter Jocelyn Alice. What’s more is that the 6-track EP features 5 remixes in addition to the original track – with each rendition conjuring its own recipe, its own taste.

Albeit the single remains the melodic siren that guides the remixes, they are thoroughly enjoyable in terms of the sheer variety of talent and elan they bring to the table. It is Alice’s soothing vocals that supplant the mellifluous foundations of the original – which infuses guitar riffs and a tropical twist with great aplomb. Moving onward, Aussie DJ and producer Ryan Riback steps up the tempo by a notch to deliver a sumptuous house beat to accompany Jocelyn Alice’s vocal shift.

Up next, Hexagon frequenter King Arthur‘s imagination takes him about to deliver a well-rounded remix which features an infectious bass coupled with a distorted beat-work. Following up on that, Toronto based duo of Rainer + Grimm deliver a cheeky take on the original, as they utilize the xylophone on their ‘drop’ and deliver a rhythm that is impossible to resist.

As we move towards the end, Dutch DJ & producer D-Wayne lets his famous electro-house style do the talking, instituting an enthralling build-up which spills into an impressive ‘drop’ that is bound to take over the dance floors. Lastly, Matthew Hill‘s remix of the original allows the vocals to build up the track as he packs an exciting end to the EP with well-crafted set of beats and great detailing on the go. All in all, the EP marks a great start to the year for the contributors, each of who delivered their special spin upon R3HAB and Jocelyn Alice’s first of the year.
