Above & Beyond – Distorted Truth

British trance trio Above & Beyond are back with their second single of the year, ‘Distorted Truth’. The instrumental trance track is part of the Common Ground Companions EP, which is set for release on March 29th. ‘Distorted Truth’ is the second track of the EP, which contains three tracks that didn’t make the final cut on their outstanding ‘Common Ground’ album. Last month, Jono, Paavo and Tony already released the first euphoric track of the EP, ‘Flying By Candlelight’ ft. Marty Longstaff

‘Distorted Truth’ isn’t necessarily more of the same, as the track has a darker, less euphoric and more industrial feel to it than ‘Flying By Candlelight’ did. It starts off with dark and edgy synth pads, before flowing into a beautiful long breakdown, in which true fans will recognise a nod to the sounds of the Far East. After the break, it picks up pace and bursts into a powerful melodic drop, turning the track into an emotional trance anthem after all.

The third chapter of the group’s ‘Common Ground Companion’ EP will be the beautiful vocal trancer ‘There’s Only You’, with vocal support of the amazing Zoë Johnston, the British vocalist who the band have collaborated with so successfully on numerous occasions in the past. Above & Beyond already premiered all three tracks of the forthcoming EP during their Group Therapy 300 celebrations in Hong Kong on September 29th, 2018.

The release of ‘Distorted Truth’ coincides with the on sale of Above & Beyond’s return to The Gorge Amphitheater, which is set for July 27th and 28th this Summer, as announced by the band last week. Above & Beyond have unleashed both an edit and an extended mix of ‘Distorted Truth’ and you can listen to both tracks down below via Spotify.
