Talking about being the Finnish representative for the Eurovision Song Contest 2019, Darude said: “This is a huge challenge for me in many ways, when I was asked to represent Finland I felt a bit scared at first, but there was no way I could say no to my country! It is an honour to be part of this incredible experience and I only have positive expectations!”

Every year, music lovers from all over Europe join together to watch the Eurovision Song Contest, which displays musical pieces from each country and allows viewers from home to vote on their favourite performance. The show has been a massive success for many decades, attracting millions of music fans to tune in via TV or radio. Eurovision 2019 will be hosted by the 2018 Eurovision winners, Israel. With the event scheduled to take place in Tel Aviv in May 2019. For the occasion, 42 countries will send an artist to perform in front of the 10,000-seat Bitan 2 centre and the millions watching and listening from home. Finland is among the first countries to announce their performer and surprisingly chose to nominate legendary DJ and producer Darude as their act.
Darude gained immense global popularity thanks to his hit-single ‘Sandstorm, which has now amassed over 140 million views on YouTube and continues to be a fan favourite track all these years after its original release. Darude will travel to Israel along with Sebastian Rejman in the hopes of winning the contest for his country. Talking about this unique opportunity, Darude stated:
