While April will mark the advent of the summer and music festivals across the world, Thailand and Thai dance music fans will have twice the reason to rejoice. As April 13th will mark the start of the celebrations for the Thai New Year, or ‘Songkran‘ as it is better known – one of Thailand’s biggest festivals, the dance music fans in Thailand will also have the opportunity to relish experiencing the Siam Songkran Music Festival. This marks the first time the festival is being held and it is set to usher a new age of top-tier dance music performances in the capital city of the country. Set to be held from 12th to 15th April, the festival will be held at Bangkok’s Show DC Arena.
For the debut edition of the festival, it is set to feature the likes of Afrojack, ALOK, COONE, Fedde Le Grand, Seven Lions, Yellow Claw, Wiwek among a myriad others. The festival has managed to gather a great number of partners and sponsors for its stages and event areas and will also be featuring ‘vintage markets and culture-based workshops like Muay Thai sessions and cooking classes’ as per the festival brochure. Whether the Siam Songkran Festival is able to usher a new age for Thai dance music fans and cater to their interests and expectations will soon be seen but what remains for sure is that this is going to be a New Years party unlike any other that the massive Thai “EDM” audiences have had in recent times.
