Get the most out of Spotify with these features you don’t know about

Spotify is a great application and a leader in the music streaming market. Many people enjoy it for easy access to different artists, genres, and finely-tuned playlists. At the same time, it looks like a large number of Spotify users don’t realize the full potential of the application and use it in a very basic way.

That’s fine in general, but if you want to get the most out of your streaming time, you should look into the platform’s more advanced features. That’s even truer if you’re paying for a premium subscription – it’s a waste of money to do that and not explore Spotify in depth!

Change Music Quality

Not everyone is aware that Spotify is capable of playing music at an even higher level of quality than the default. If you’re a premium user, you should go to your application settings and turn up the quality to the next level. It’s normally set to a lower grade by default to conserve data. If you’re on a metered connection, it might not be a good idea to turn that feature on.

If you’re streaming at home, at work, or anywhere else where you don’t need to worry about data volume restrictions – turn it up! You may notice that your mobile devices have a different range of quality settings than desktop machines. In most cases, the only way to reach the maximum quality level is by streaming on your computer.

Get Free Language Lessons

This is an unusual feature that doesn’t have much to do with music playback, but it’s great nonetheless. Members of the platform have been experimenting with language tutoring channels, and so far, it’s going great. This might only be relevant to premium subscribers due to the way Spotify works, but it’s worth checking out in any case.

The variety of languages can differ depending on where you’re streaming from. You should get a good selection of different languages from around the world by default though. If you want to unlock more, there are ways to circumvent Spotify’s regional restrictions. More on that in detail below.

Access Locked Content

If you travel a lot, you may have noticed that some of your favorite tracks sometimes become unavailable. That’s not a bug – it’s a feature of the platform. Some publishers just don’t want their music to be available in specific areas. As a result, their tracks are only available in a limited range of countries.

A VPN is an easy way to get around that restriction without having to pay a lot of money. It’s a service that allows you to reroute your connection through another point in the world. That way, you can “fool” Spotify into thinking you’re still at home. Or, if you wish, pretend that you’re in any country of your choosing, and get access to even more music.

As a bonus, you will not have to worry about security issues with your device when using a VPN. Many people rely on mobile VPN services for the added protection they provide. Even a cheaper subscription can go a long way toward making your mobile phone or tablet more secure.

Search in Depth

Most people’s experience with Spotify’s search engine boils down to looking up track or artist names. You can do so much more with the tools provided though. By using Spotify’s Advanced Search, you can filter your results in many different ways. Check which artists share a common keyword, narrow down your results to a specific era, and more. It’s a shame that the feature is not advertised better because it’s amazing in its current state.

Listen in Private

Spotify is a social platform. Sharing your listening history is one of the main points of using it in the first place for many people. And yet, sometimes you may not want to let everyone know what’s in your head. Maybe you want to play a cheesy pop song on repeat for an hour while cleaning your house. Even if you’re fine with sharing that with the world, it can still mess up with your recommendation preferences. The bottom line is, use Spotify’s Private Session feature if you want to avoid these problems.

Get Your Deleted Playlists Back

Even your favorite playlist might bore you after a while. It can be disappointing to want to go back to some tracks you loved, only to find out that you’ve deleted the playlist at some point. Worry not though – Spotify still has those playlists available, you just need to recover them! The option for that is tucked away in your Account Settings, but it could have been placed in a more intuitive spot. Maybe Spotify doesn’t want its servers overloaded with people constantly deleting and restoring playlists. In any case, now you know how to get your lost music back.

Don’t be afraid to click around those menus and see what else Spotify can do that you were unaware of. It’s a great platform that keeps getting better by the day. Only those who explore it in detail can take proper advantage of what it has to offer though.
