While currently on tour through the US, French bass house DJ/producer Malaa has just dropped his first single of the year 2019, titled; ‘Addiction’. The amazingly catchy new banger is the first release since the masked bass house heavyweight released his ‘Illegal Mixtape Volume. 2′ compilation, which saw daylight in November of 2018. Just like the mixtape, ‘Addiction’ is released on Tchami’s CONFESSION label.
‘Addiction’ immediately draws attention with the dark atmosphere it creates, spanning from heavy bass lines, pummeling percussion and a slow build-up. After the track’s into, a brilliant spoken word narrative kicks in, pointing out the dangers of cocaine use (and addiction), while also detailing the change in behavioural patterns when someone is high on the white powder. According to the narrator, those signs include: “increased talking, increased irritation or irritableness, agitation and anxiety”.
The release of ‘Addiction’ comes approximately one month before the legendary Red Rocks Amphitheatre, where the likes of DJ Snake, Tchami, Malaa & Mercer will perform their eagerly awaited ‘Pardon My French’ showcase. For the first time since 2016, the collective of French DJs/producers will perform together on April 26th at the theatre in Morrisson, Colorado. In the meantime, check out ‘Addiction’ down below and be ready to get hooked to its heavy bass and haunting narrative vocals.
