Dutch DJ duo W&W – also known as Willem van Hanegem and Ward van der Harst – are two people who have made massive moves since kick-starting their careers in 2007. From collaborations with world renowned artists such as Armin van Buuren and Dimitri Vegas & Like Mike, W&W have made a name for themselves. Launching their label Rave Culture (rebranding from their first label Mainstage Music) propelled them even further into one of the most esteemed duos in EDM today. Willem and Ward have always used their platform to promote and support fresh, upcoming talent and their mega collaboration ‘Matrix’ with Maurice West reflects this perfectly. At only nineteen years old, Dutch producer Maurice has made a splash in the scene already, becoming W&W’s first label signing and gaining support from the likes of Nicky Romero and Martin Garrix.
With a slow intro into an increasing tempo, the energy is injected early on into “Matrix”, demanding the listeners attention and holding onto it until the very last note. The huge ground shaking drop is the true definition of a festival banger, engineered for big, bouncing mainstage crowds packed with enough power to last a whole night.
Opening up about their collab, W&W spoke about how it came to exist:
“We’ve been touring with Maurice for a while now and we became really good friends along the way. While we were on the road, we started working on the track together, and we’re happy to support an upcoming talent like Maurice this way.”
