Avicii – SOS (feat. Aloe Blacc)

When the tragic news broke on Friday 20th April 2018 that Swedish musician Tim Bergling (aka Avicii) had passed away whilst on holiday in Oman, for most fans – the shock of losing one of the world’s most influential figure was also met with the dark realisation that music lovers would never again hear new music from the inspirational producer, who had previously given the world an array of the finest electronic productions ever made, including ‘Levels’, ‘I Could Be The One’, and ‘Seek Bromance’.

But 355 days later, Avicii’s music lives on! Working on a number of productions prior to his death, Tim left exceptionally detailed notes on each unfinished track – a sign of the meticulous perfectionist that he grown to become – with full information on how each single should be rounded off. With Tim’s long-term friend and co-producer Carl Falk taking control of the project, the first single of Avicii’s forthcoming album ‘Tim’ (set for release in June), has dropped, and sees the Swede teaming up with Aloe Blacc once more following their 2013 success, ‘Wake Me Up’.

‘SOS’ not only features the poignant lyrical abilities of Blacc, but showcases Tim’s exceptional songwriting talents and gives an insight into his deep personal pain via lines such as:

“Can you hear me? SOS! Help me put my mind to rest.”

Featuring the same high-octane melodic style as several of his ‘True’ productions, and 2015’s ‘Sunset Jesus’, the track displays the vibrant style which earned Avicii the nickname ‘the master of melodies’. Despite many Avicii fans clamouring for Tim to return to his 2009-2012 golden-era period of EDM sound, ‘SOS’ is a beautifully crafted melancholic masterpiece which perfectly encapsulates the sweet instrumental style adopted by the late, great, Swede, during his latter career years. No words can express how joyous we are to have fresh Avicii music in our lives, so check out ‘SOS’ below:
