Siam Songkran Music Festival wraps up successful debut edition

As reported at the end of March, Thailand and hundreds of Thai electronic dance music fans were in for a treat with the Siam Songkran Music Festival making its debut in order to usher a new age of top-notch dance music performances in Thailand. The music festival, aptly titled so, is set around the Thai New Year which is known as ‘Songkran‘. Songkran is arguably Thailand’s biggest celebration time and it is usual for the entire country to be absorbed in the festivities. While the New Year celebrations are usually held from April 13th onward, the Siam Songkran Music Festival was bound to kick off the celebrations early for dance music fans with the music festival scheduled from 12th to 15th April at Bangkok’s Show DC Arena.

For its debut edition, the festival had announced the likes of Afrojack, ALOK, Fedde Le Grand, Seven Lions, Yellow Claw, Wiwek among other such acts. Also in attendance were the Q-Dance frequenters such as Headhunterz, Coone and Zatox who dished out some sumptuous hard hitting tunes for the Thai crowds, who do posses a certain love for Hardstyle. What made the festival special were the various cultural workshops, Muay Thai sessions and cooking classes that were in motion at the festival in addition to the vintage market. All in all, the Siam Songkran Music Festival’s 2019 edition marked the beginning of a remarkable and special annual event that will surely add to the New Year celebrations for Thai dance music fans.
