Diplo – Higher Ground EP

When you think of versatile producers, Diplo (real name Thomas Wesley) is definitely someone who springs to mind. Working on the projects Jack Ü, Major Lazer, LSD and his own solo career spanning across many years, Diplo is a hard-working EDM machine who always cranks out infectious hits across multiple genres and collaborates with the biggest names in the industry – such as Justin Bieber, Don Diablo and Steve Aoki to name only a few – and his latest release is no different.

Presented in the form of a four-track EP, ‘Higher Ground’ is pure house heaven. The opening track ‘Hold You Tight’ (previously released as a single) does an expert job of setting the tone for the rest of the EP. Featuring beats that sound like they have just come straight out of a summer festival, ‘Hold You Tight’ has massive potential to become a staple in the house sub-genre, with extremely catchy lyrics that compliment the vibe of the song perfectly. Also released as a single was the closing track ‘Bubble Up’ which features pure instrumental goodness, with beats worthy of being played in the best clubs in the world.

It wouldn’t be a Diplo project without collaborations, and this one features three collaborations with Blond:ish and Kah-Lo on ‘Give Dem’ and Tove Lo on ‘Win Win’. ‘Higher ground’ proves that Diplo can work with any genre and produce utter magic.
