It’s always tough to stand out from the crowd as an up-and-coming producer, so having that edge over the competition is always going to help. Enter Miami-based producer Kristi Yang, and his deep, atmospheric, and rather sumptuous new EP Genesis.Exe, which features three tracks each of their own style, but containing a certain something that gives Yang a head on the competition.

From the opener Cresse with its slow broken beats, heavy stops, and massive reverb structures, to the bouncy rhythm and long ambient break of Don’t Let Me Go, ending on the rather house-infected Cold Heart, this is an EP that seems to act as something of a showcase for Kristi’s ability in the studio. There’s varied and quite differing influences in there, from sound-design through to rhythm arrangement, but the EP above-all offers a unique flair that should see Kristi gain attention from the wider industry.
